Our Core Values
Playful accessibility
We believe music should be immediate and joyful. With Just four ukulele strings and the world's most underestimated instrument (the mighty kazoo), participants can make music within their first five minutes and NO prior experience needed. Our approach removes barriers while keeping the joy and dignity firmly intact.
Trauma-informed belonging
We create co-creative spaces where laughter and learning happen side by side, where "I've never done this before" is not an issue, where the person who joined nervously three weeks ago is now helping the newest member figure out their first chord. Community isn't built on perfection, it's built on showing up and tooting along together.
Process over perfection
We focus on the journey, not just the destination. While performance opportunities are available for those who want them, the workshops themselves offer valuable experiences and well-being benefits through experimentation, inclusion, and creative playfulness.
Our Ultimate Goal
To build a sustainable model of community music-making that:
- reduces social isolation and supports mental health recovery
- creates pathways from participation to leadership (peer mentoring, facilitator roles)
- goes on tour with our interactive theatre orchestra to spread this community spirit UK-wide and beyond
- collaborates with local ukulele clubs to expand reach and impact
- demonstrates that accessible instruments can create professionally viable, emotionally powerful performances
